Two new members join Tatin's Design Strategy Board

Michael Pietig and Michael Kron, two proven strategists, transformation experts and designers, are joining Tatin's Design Strategy Board.


Both are convinced that the close integration of strategy, design and technology is a decisive lever for positioning companies in a differentiated and sustainable manner. The Design Strategy Board offers them a platform to contribute new perspectives, critically sharpen theses and further develop the role of design as a strategic business factor.

Novartis Molecule Trail: An augmented reality journey in honour of Jörg Reinhardt.

We designed an AR experience that transforms the route from the Novartis Pavilion to the campus into a journey of discovery. Eight molecules can be experienced in the space and tell the story of Novartis. Our contribution included UX and UI design, conception and 3D modelling to create an immersive and intuitive experience. The technical implementation was carried out by our alliance partner Zaak.

The Terbiner Book: Designing a Swiss cultural treasure.

More than just a dictionary – a legacy. We had the privilege of designing the life's work of Fides Zimmermann-Heizmann, compiled over 20 years. Our task was to give the valuable vocabulary of the Visperterminen dialect a form that does justice to its cultural significance. The result is a book that not only preserves knowledge, but also reflects the soul of an entire region.

A symbol of historical forward thinking and sustainable architecture.

For the celebrations marking the completion of the renovation of Roche Building 503, we developed a logo that embodies the philosophy behind the project: ‘Thinking ahead historically’. It symbolises the responsible handling of historic buildings and the connection between the past, present and future. The logo also adorns an exclusive Rhine swimming bag – a symbol of its roots in Basel culture.

microMiner Bio: Brand identity for a green tech start-up that is revolutionising the circular economy.

We developed a comprehensive brand identity and brand image for the green tech start-up microMiner Bio. The visual system communicates the company's ethos: sustainable recycling of valuable metals from electric car batteries. Our work supports a forward-looking idea in the circular economy and gives an important innovation a strong, recognisable face.

Energy Hub Weida-Land: A promotional film for a flagship project in the sustainable energy transition.

We designed and produced an image film for the visionary project of the Weida-Land Energy Network. The film visualises the synergy between photovoltaics, battery storage and AI data centres and communicates the vision of regional energy independence. Through 3D and animation design, we make the complexity of the project tangible and its significance for the future of the region emotionally palpable.

dementia.live: A brand for education and support in the fight against dementia.


We developed the brand name, identity and visual system for the Competence Foundation dementia.live. Our work supports the foundation in raising awareness of neurological age-related diseases such as Alzheimer's and giving a voice to those affected and their families. The butterfly in the logo symbolises the hope and lightness that the foundation wants to bring into people's lives.

The site is a digital stage that puts his work centre stage and showcases his visual language. We created a new brand world for Isi Velo: from brand development to content and visual identity to the website. Our goal was to make the passion for cycling tangible in every detail and to create an inviting atmosphere that makes people want to visit. The result is a brand that not only sells bikes, but inspires an entire community.

Restaurant zur Mägd: Eine neue Marke für ein historisches Juwel der Groupe Oniro.

Für das neueste Restaurant der Groupe Oniro, das "zur Mägd", haben wir eine umfassende Markenentwicklung realisiert. Mit einem neuen Besitzer erstrahlt das historische Lokal in neuem Glanz. Unsere Arbeit umfasste die Entwicklung der Marke, einzigartige Illustrationen und eine Kommunikationsstrategie, die das "dolce vita"-Gefühl des Restaurants erlebbar macht – mit viel Spass und Liebe zum Detail.

We developed a comprehensive 360° communication concept for the emergency department at Bethesda Hospital. Seasonal, sports-related campaign motifs create relevance and visibility across all channels – from OOH & DOOH to social media and tram advertising. The campaign positions the emergency department as a competent and reliable partner in every situation and builds trust when it matters most.

To mark the 100th anniversary of Jean Tinguely's birth, we had the privilege of helping to conceive and design a comprehensive publication for the Museum Tinguely. The work traces the path of this exceptional artist through 15 thematic areas and brings the impressive diversity of his work to life. Our design translates Tinguely's creative energy into a visual language that does justice to this masterpiece.

We developed a comprehensive activation concept for Novartis' partnership with the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel. Under the motto ‘The Power of Reimagining’, we created a messaging design for all channels and a captivating storyline for the landing page. Our work combines the values of Novartis – innovation, openness and progress – with the creative energy of the ESC.

For the ESC Village Basel 2025, we have designed the ‘LoveCloud’ – an impressive installation consisting of balloon clouds and light effects. The LoveCloud is more than just an eye-catcher; it is an experience for all the senses that guides and entertains visitors and brings the message of ‘United by Music’ to life in an emotional way. A symbol of an inclusive world, right at the heart of the ESC.

The latest edition of Lettres du Brassus is a journey to the roots of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux and a commitment to protecting the oceans. We were once again entrusted with the design of this prestigious magazine, translating the themes of ‘watchmaking’, ‘art de vivre’ and ‘ocean commitment’ into a visual language. The result is a publication that honours Blancpain's heritage and shares its vision for a sustainable future.

We conceived and designed a mega poster at Messe Basel for the opening of a new location for Switzerland's largest padel network. In collaboration with photographer Tobias Dürring, we created a powerful visual that impressively showcases the dynamism of the sport. An unmissable appearance that awakens anticipation for a new urban sporting experience and anchors the Padelwerk brand in public space.

Swiss Indoors 2024: A trailer that captures the energy of world-class tennis.

We designed and produced the official SRF trailer for Swiss Indoors 2024 for sponsors Vaudoise Insurance, Rado and IWB. With a concise storyboard, dynamic animation design and captivating sound design, we capture the energy of the tournament – from established world stars to the ‘next gen superstars’. An emotional prelude that heightens the anticipation for top-class tennis on SRF.

The Cologne Business School and the European Management School became one brand: CBS International Business School. We accompanied this process from positioning analysis to rebranding. A comprehensive activation concept made the new, authentic brand world tangible for all target groups across all media. We designed a comprehensive rebranding strategy for this traditional brewery, which is new to Groupe Oniro. The aim was to transform it into a modern, urban brasserie concept. The new visual identity breaks with old conventions and positions the restaurant as a lively meeting place for connoisseurs. A fresh look that reflects the culinary reorientation.

Baselicato: A brand for a limited edition wine that unites two worlds.

Two winemakers, one wine: we developed the brand for the limited edition ‘Baselicato’, a marriage of Pinot Noir and Sangiovese. The name, a fusion of the places of origin, and the label design tell the story of this unique collaboration. The accompanying website rounds off the experience and gives this special wine a digital stage.

Bio Suisse: Sustainable transformation of the brand into the digital space.

We developed and implemented a tailor-made digital design strategy for Bio Suisse. Thanks to a new design system and the establishment of a newsroom, Bio Suisse can now publish content effectively and in a timely manner. In just six months, we integrated an immense amount of content through a website relaunch, ensuring a consistent transformation of the brand in the digital space and across various touchpoints.

The last rays of sunshine of this year were the basis for a poster with which we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

With cyanotype, forms are created on light-sensitive paper in an infinite number of shades of blue. Depending on how and where the objects are placed on the paper and how strong the light is. The result is surprising and unique thanks to experimentation and perseverance - that's how we like to approach our projects.

Rapp is committed to a future-oriented design of living spaces. For ten years, we have been transferring the market strategy of the tradition-rich family business to the brand appearance. The corporate identity of this family business now shines out stronger from the wine labels: with minimalist typography, we have brought the sunbeams from the Simmendingers' family crest into the logo and onto the labels of their wines from the Basel region. A clear positioning in a highly competitive market, simply «Young with Tradition».

The Bethesda Hospital is known for its outstanding nursing care, excellent medical services and outstanding hospitality. After we were allowed to visually modernise the communicative appearance of the hospital in evolutionary steps, we revised the website in terms of content and design. The user interaction and the fresh design reflect the hospital's claim of "focusing on people" and enable patients to find the relevant information quickly.

Support Financing for IOB

Eye diseases are on the rise worldwide. The Institute for Molecular and Clinical Opthalmology Basel (IOB) facilitates basic research that, in close exchange with clinical excellence, develops effective therapies to cure people of blindness. With the fundraising brochure, which is available in German and English, we have emotionally visualised eye diseases and thus support the financing of the new construction of our own centre.

Exhibition guide for Novartis Pavillon

On 30th April, the Novartis Pavilion opened as a new exhibition, meeting and event centre for Basel. Together with the Novartis team, we designed and implemented the exhibition flyer, among other things. Its shape takes up the pavilion's ground plan and the visual language shows elements of the multimedia exhibition "Wonders of Medicine" – the centrepiece of the pavilion.

We congratulate Laurent Ballesta on this great success!

The French marine scientist and renowned underwater photographer has been named Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2021.

 

For ten years, the Blancpain watch brand has supported Laurent Ballesta's important expeditions as part of its Ocean Commitment. Ballesta's reports and photos are regularly published in Blancpain's magazine. The highly acclaimed publication "Lettres du Brassus" is distributed annually worldwide and is available in all Blancpain boutiques as an important image medium for customers and interested parties. TATIN has been involved in the conception and design of this publication for ten years.

Since a competition, we have been the new lead agency for IWB, advising and supporting the energy service provider with our extensive experience in active brand management.

HOLISTICITY ON-LINE

What distinguishes the Knospe from other organic labels? The Bio Suisse association with its more than 7,300 farmers and 1050 licensees is committed to organic production with the strictest standards in Switzerland. In order to make the holistic nature of Bio Suisse's commitment tangible, the new website will go online in time for the launch of the new campaign in May.

 

SUKOA won the pitch for the relaunch of bio-suisse.ch with us. TATIN is leading the development of the user experience and design in the first phase and is accompanying the digital transformation of the association with the Knospe brand. SUKOA's experience is incorporated in close cooperation and implemented in the programming. In parallel, Bio Suisse is working with TATIN Communications Management to develop a system for editing website content, the Content Farm. This will enable the association to tell more targeted stories about its contribution to sustainability in the future.

EPHRAIM NEW @TATIN

We are very pleased that Ephraim supports us in visual communication.

 

He has many years of experience in the fields of publication, communication design and design criticism based on an interdisciplinary master's degree course in 'Integrative Design' at the University of Art and Design FHNW Basel.

 

As co-owner of the publishing house PRIMA.Publikationen, Ephraim promotes design and artist books and passes on his knowledge in communication design and design criticism at various universities.

ZEITRÄUME BASEL 2019 – THE SHARED ROOM

The common space is the focus of the third festival edition of the Biennale for New Music and Architecture.

For two weekends, at 30 selected rooms and locations in and around Basel, artists make audible, visible and playful connections.

 

What holds us together? How do spaces arise? The public space, the social, the built, the composed space?

 

On the basis of these questions, we have developed a visual system and made it visible and tangible on all media.

 

The festival will take place from 13 to 22 September 2019.

From making the clocks in Le Sentier to watchmaking in Le Brassus – Blancpain's passion and commitment have deeply impressed us. All the more we are motivated and look forward to designing the next magazine "Lettres du Brassus".

ATTRACTIVE NEW MUSEUM PLATFORM GENERATES INTEREST

For the canton of Basel-City’s Office of Cultural Affairs, we conceived an extensive relaunch of its online platform www.museenbasel.ch, which creates synergies in the museum landscape of the city of Basel.

 

Thanks to the attractive, strongly visual platform, the culturally interested public quickly gets a user-friendly overview of the abundant range of offers as well as plenty of inspiration to discover something new. Thanks to filter functions and an intuitive user interface, exhibitions and events can be found in alignment with the interests of the visitor.

 

Sukoa is responsible for the technical realization of the strong, scalable platform based on the open-source CMS system, Magnolia.

INNOVATION OUT OF TRADITION

The magazine “Lettres du Brassus” offers admirers of haute horlogerie an exclusive look inside the art of watch-making at Blancpin. The magazine is published in 9 languages and distributed around the world.

 

In close collaboration with writers, photographers, translators and printers, we were responsible for the creative direction and realization of issue no. 19.

At TATIN, we designed and realized the 2019 portrait, were responsible for editorial design, and supported Rapp in its storytelling.

APPEAL TO ALL SENSES: SEE, HEAR, READ, FEEL

How can you communicate a large construction project as a tangible experience to a broader public?


For ASTRA, the Swiss Federal Roads Office, we staged the construction of Zürich’s northern bypass together with C-Matrix. By means of an information pavilion – where visitors can already experience the Gubrist tunnel’s new, third tube – the construction project is made accessible to citizens. 

 

The panels, curved into half-circles and arranged diagonally facing one another, invite visitors on a voyage of discovery. The unusually shaped letters used in the texts reflect the dynamic forms of the construction site and are used as a design element in graphics and images.

Through product and service prototyping, we are supporting E.ON in creating a strong, visionary corporate identity within the company and developing new perspectives for distinct differentiation and unique positioning on the market. In this way, we are helping E.ON create innovative offers, solutions and services for the energy markets of the future.

She recently completed her Master of Arts in Visual Communication and Iconic Research at the Basel School of Design.

Her thesis research is centered around the topic of motion and gesture in the digital environment.

NEXT STOP: KILLWANGEN-SPREITENBACH

It is official. The cantonal initiative "Stop the Limmat Valley Railway – from Schlieren" has been rejected by 83% of the voters. Preparations for the start of the second stage in September 2019 are now in full swing.

 

The stops of the Limmattalbahn, together with the catenary masts, are the most important architectural design elements of the project. In cooperation with 10: 8 architects, we were able to realize the labeling concept at the prototype tram stop in Geissweid.

BUHLER LABELING CONCEPT
